Please help me with the forum
by Simon inkeeping a balance in what is allowed and what is not is very difficult and is more difficult if i have to take action against one person when i have let other things go by others.. it would help a lot if we could stop the personal attacks and some of the name calling & insults that are thrown about.
i know personalities do and will clash but please disagree about the subjects being discussed and not get personal!.
if you think someone is deliberately trying to cause arguments please do not respond to them as this is giving in to what they want.

Simon,
I couldn't agree with you more. I know it must be a very difficult call to make! I am glad I am not in your position.
I felt that many of Yadirf's post were inflammnatory and very off the wall.
I for one would love to hear active JW's comments on this board. But presented with dignity and civility! And that goes for all of us! My goal in life, is to bring as much benefit to those around me as possible. And if it means helping anyone not become involved in a controlling situation, be it religion or any other, then so be it.
I do not feel it was out of place to removed Yadirf in any way, because he obviously could not express his thoughts in a civil manner. So sad that he is resorting to threats. Personally I have met good and bad JW's but I don't think I have ever met one quite so caustic as Yadirf.

falling in love
by kid B inok, heres my story.... i am 21 years old, male, and i am not a j.w., but i have hopelessly fallen in love with one.
unfortuntately, i do not believe what she believes in (i use the word unfortuntately because i wish i could believe, but i cant and it tears me apart).
i'm sure that this has happened a million times before, and you guys probably hear about it a lot, but i'm finding it very difficult to deal with, since she has also fallen deeply in love with me, but she feels like the only option is to let it go.

KidB,
I couldn't agree more with all the advice you have been given!
You sound like a great person and I hope you get all you wish for!
I was raised a JW and left in June of 2000. It was and is a very difficult situation, because in the process of being true to myself I have basically lost all of my family. Once a person decides to leave the JW's for whatever reason, voluntarily or involuntarily, those still Witnesses cut you off.
Good luck in your search for the facts! And no matter what the outcome with your girl is, I hope your heart heals quickly!
Best of luck to you!

Met my first Elder after diassociation
by aud8 inwell i met my first witness (and it would have to be an elder who i always got on well with) last night after my disassociation 3 weeks ago and i was not prepared for how hard it felt.
i had the most human reaction of recognising someone i knew and had to stop myself saying hi.
he just rushed past me.

Aud,
I believe I know how you feel. It is hard. And as Thinker mentioned above, I have had to experience this. Actually the elders and their wives started shunning me at the KH a couple of years before I da'ed myself. It was so very hurtful. And I couldn't understand it. Still don't.
But like Thinker mentioned, I left because I didn't agree. I am not playing by their rules.
Although to be honest there are some I want to avoid and do.

HELP Needed in custody case!
by Esmeralda ini received a letter last night (as many of you did) about a particular.
custody battle being fought by a poster on this board.. she just found out that she lost custody of her 3 children to her jw ex, despite the fact that they are in danger of being exposed to a pedophile relative through this man.. i am asking anyone who may know anything about setting up a legal defense fund (or anyone who knows about utah custudy law/ lawyers in utah) to please respond to this post.
time is of the essence, the girls have already gone back to their father today.

ALamb,
I am so sorry that you and your children are going through this trauma.
When Thinker got divorced (the ex tried to play dirty) he did all kinds of searches on the law of the state, on the internet. You could do the same I am sure, for the laws in Utah. Take notes and do your homework!!
I wish you success!

AR,
I hate to be an idiot, but is this a different case from Erica in Ritzville?
It would be wonderful if there were two victories that Dateline covered!

The dreaded conversation.......
by LDH inwell, it happened.. just this morning i was talking to my aunt, a life-long book sales rep for the wbts.
she asked me, "lisa, do you ever think you'll come back?".
i replied, "come back to what?
-
thinkers wife
Lisa,
I had a very similiar conversation with my mother last month. She even had the audacity to tell me she knew I was reading apostate literature, a friend of mine who I studied with told her Thinker had sent her a quote from a 1925 WT. I asked Mom how that could be apostate, that it was a direct quote. She said that it was misquoted. I said no it was direct. She told me if I kept reading this apostate material, I was in great danger.
The upshot of the conversation is, I realize, my Mom is playing WT games. And I just am totally disgusted with it. I also told her I was never coming back. Sometimes you just get full up with it and the truth pops out.
It has been a month now and I have no desire to talk to them. I think I am just irritated beyond repair and recognizing that if they are in and I am out, we have nothing in common.

How I Married A Borg
by Ray Skyhorse inive been posting for about a month now.
ive finally finished writing about my life.
its long and complicated.
-
thinkers wife
Ray,
I was in the Borg for thirty-eight years. I finally got out pretty much on my own, but Thinker helped me stay focused, especially in light of the massive amount of things I would be losing. i.e. all of my family.
I particularly liked your idea of leaving around reading material and reading things in bed. Sounds like reverse psychology to me. The Borg suggest leaving their reading material around to get an "unbelieving mate" interested. The rest of your ideas sounded very balanced as well.
Good Luck!! Sounds like a relationship worth saving.
